PRIOR ADVOCACY & INVOLVEMENT

Community members may worry about a changing of the guard when it comes to something as important as the Upper Dublin School Board. We would like to assure you that the UD United Candidates will be exactly what our district needs. We are Parents, not Politicians.

  • We are heavily involved in Our Community and UD Schools.

  • We attend a majority of District and Township meetings.

  • We have all lived in UD for at least 16 years and up to 52 years, a combined total of 105 years!

  • We have ten children currently, attending Upper Dublin Elementary, Middle and High schools

  • We are also frustrated with never-ending tax increases.

  • We want to work toward consistent school rankings, quality curriculum and learning, smart schedules and strong activities and athletics, while supporting ALL children.

  • We have professional backgrounds that not only complement each other they will also provide the essential tools needed when making important decisions.

Some of the most recent POSITIVE changes that are a direct link to our advocacy, include:

  • Saving UD Sports

  • Clean Water in our Schools

  • Air Conditioning in the Elementary Buildings

  • Window Updates

  • Saving the Field of Dreams

  • Saved Second Recess

  • AND MORE

We've already been advocating:

Advocating for teachers and education

We have advocated for teachers during the furloughs, for full and honest presentations and assessments on detracking and new curriculum's implemented and for more educational supports in the classrooms.

Air Conditioning

We asked the schools to prioritize temperature control in the schools and not just in large spaces, as classrooms were tipping the thermometer at close to 90 degrees. We questioned why PTA/PTO’s could not raise money and install air conditioners. Thankfully we did get air conditioning in all elementary schools.

Asking the hard questions

We have spoken out during community input at many meetings for the District and Township and keep the community updated on social media.

Attending Meetings

We attend, school board meetings, township meetings, community steering committee meetings, PTA/PTO meetings and not just now during an election season but for years.

Connecting the dots between School District and Township

We attend meetings on both sides of Loch Alsh and know the relationships and continue to advocate for better alignment between the district and township.

Field of Dreams | Bus Depot

We supported our community by informing and “protesting” the destruction of the Field of Dreams for the Bus Depot.

PTOs and Volunteerism

We serve and have served as leaders on various PTA/PTO boards and have attended PTA/PTO combined leadership forums. We have consistently volunteered for various committee’s, events and activities at our children’s schools for over ten years.

Radon

We initiated the request for Radon testing and continued to follow up to be sure the testing was completed.

Recess

We met with new administration and worked side by side with community members in the fight to keep the second recess in our elementary schools.

Refresh the SRMS Cafeteria

We were instrumental in finding an opportunity at Lowe’s to be awarded a free update at the SRMS cafeteria, including ten picnic tables for the outside patio and painting.

Sandy Run School Store

We have established processes and inventory control to better serve the middle school students.

Steering Committees

We have served on various community steering committees, including the Sandy Run Project Review Committee, both SRMS Realignment Task Force Committees, Excellence and Equity Committees, the Strategic Planning Action Committee and the Sandy Run Middle School Scheduling and Nutrition Committees

Water

We supported our community members that were fighting for clean water in our community and schools and even hosted a PA Legislator who was denied the ability to speak at a school board meeting.

Windows

We researched and asked why one of our elementary schools didn’t get new windows eight years ago at the time other elementary buildings had gotten new windows. We persisted and requested countless times to consider this purchase and we are happy to report new windows were installed at FWES this summer.

Youth Sports and Activities

We have multiple children participating in a variety of the Upper Dublin Youth Sports programs as well as the school teams. Our involvement includes volunteering and coaching various teams. We also have students who participate in our outstanding music programs. We champion good athletics, arts and music programs and extracurricular clubs as they are essential for a well rounded educational experience.
